Purpose of the Role
This is a dual-hat role combining hands-on field service execution with local representation of KHS towards our Malaysian customers. As our technical expert on the ground, you keep our installed base running at peak efficiency; as our local face, you are the day-to-day contact point for customers in Malaysia and the bridge to the regional KHS service organization.
The role is ideal for an experienced mechatronics professional who wants to combine technical depth with growing commercial and customer-facing exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical execution on KHS machines and lines: troubleshooting, root cause analysis of production stops, optimization of machine and line efficiency.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, retrofits, mechanical, electrical, and control system tasks; reprogramming and parameter adjustments.
- Identify parts for repair, mount replacements and retrofits, document all work performed in service reports and KHS Connect.
- Provide first-line on-site support and back-up the regional 24/7 hotline when required.
- Act as local KHS representative for Malaysian customers: regular site visits, technical consultations, and follow-up of open service items.
- Plan and prepare regular customer visits and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) reviews together with the Regional Service Key Account Manager.
- Advise customers on maintenance approaches, conversion potential, and technical upgrades; channel commercial opportunities to the service sales team.
- Inspect installed base and keep IBA (Installed Base Asset) records updated in the system.
- Resolve and/or escalate technical issues; act as the local interface to regional field service, technical support, and order management.
- Ensure full compliance with KHS Health & Safety standards on every customer site.
- Obtain customer feedback after each visit and share findings with the regional team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Technical qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (Diploma / Bachelor).
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on field service experience on filling, packaging, processing, or comparable high-speed industrial equipment.
- Solid knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens / Allen-Bradley), pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, and mechanical assemblies.
- Confident customer communicator: able to translate technical issues into business language.
- Self-organized, accountable, and able to work autonomously in a home-based / on-site setup.
- Fluent English; Bahasa Malaysia native; additional Mandarin / dialects an advantage.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively within Malaysia and occasionally to regional locations.
