The EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Specialist identifies, evaluates, and controls workplace hazards to prevent injuries and environmental damage. They ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by conducting audits, developing safety policies, training staff, and investigating incidents.
Your Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Safety Representative and chair the Safety Committee, ensuring members have the authority and resources (within approval guidelines) to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Administer the KHS Health & Safety Program to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including occupational health, hazardous materials management, accident and fire prevention, biological safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Advise management and employees on their responsibilities under the Safety Program and act as a trusted resource for EHS matters.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments to drive performance.
- Lead accident investigations and evaluate risk management to mitigate significant hazards and loss trends.
- Submit workers' compensation documentation for work related injuries and assist with management of cases.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic programs, plans, policies and procedures to protect all plant personnel, facilities and the environment.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations, especially electrical and machine safety including LOTO.
- Create and maintain EHS programs, including emergency response plans, hazardous material communication, and waste minimization strategies.
- Deliver EHS training and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. Assists in the development and implementation of strategic programs, plans, policies and procedures to protect all plant personnel, facilities and the environment.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field.
- Previous Manufacturing Experience required
- 3-5 years of EHS management experience required, similar levels, or areas.
- Site Responsibility is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and equipment preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
